Date: December 20th, 2023

In a groundbreaking initiative to nurture young culinary talent, Harcourts International School recently hosted the much-anticipated "Edinborough's Flavour Fusion" cooking competition on December 20, 2023. This unique event, organized by the School Development Front, marked a historic moment as the first-ever cooking competition of its kind in an international school setting.

The driving force behind this culinary extravaganza was none other than Edinborough, a renowned food brand that holds a prominent place in the Sri Lankan economy. As the main sponsor, Edinborough showcased its commitment to fostering a love for cooking among students and their mothers. Colombo Commodities, operating under the trusted brand of Anchor, joined hands as the spice sponsor, further adding flavour and excitement to the event.

The competition, held under the watchful eyes of international culinary expert Alan Palmer, unfolded with a sense of anticipation and enthusiasm. Alan Palmer, boasting six decades of culinary experience, serves as the international culinary judge in Asia and holds prestigious roles such as Vice Chairman of the World Chefs Historical Committee and Project Director of the Hotel Asia Exhibition Culinary Challenge in the Maldives. Mr. Rifaz Mohideen, Assistant Manager of Business Development at Edinborough Products, also graced the occasion, adding his expertise to culinary affairs.

The visionary leadership of Mr. Ahamed Rheyas, the Chairman of Harcourts International School, played a pivotal role in the successful organization of the event. Assisting him were Ms. Asma Hameed, the leader of the School Development Front, and her dedicated team comprising Sheikha Rahman, Shahnaz Deen, Hasna Haniffa, Asfa Hameed, Hajara Naushad, and Hishmah Farhan.

The highlight of the competition was the Mystery Box Challenge, where participants, primarily students and their mothers, showcased their culinary prowess by creating delectable sandwiches and salads within a given time limit. The event not only encouraged creativity in the kitchen but also fostered a sense of camaraderie as students collaborated with their mothers in the pursuit of culinary excellence.

The success of "Edinborough's Flavour Fusion" underscores the school's commitment to providing holistic education and nurturing talents beyond the conventional academic curriculum. By venturing into the realm of culinary arts, Harcourts International School has opened a gateway for students to explore and potentially pursue careers as international chefs.

The Chairman, Mr. Ahamed Rheyas, commended the participants for their culinary skills and creativity, emphasizing the importance of passion and teamwork in the kitchen. He expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants for making the cooking competition at Harcourts International School a resounding success.

Chef Alan Palmer and Chef Rifaz Mohideen graciously extend their heartfelt congratulations to the School Development Front of Harcourts International School for orchestrating the immensely successful "Edinborough's Flavour Fusion" event. Their commendation is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and meticulous planning exhibited by the School Development Front.
